7:30 AM: Sunday Road Ride - High Intermediate 15-17
Sunday Road Ride - High Intermediate
This week's Sunday ride has a few changes.
We'll start at 7:30am and the start location has been changed to the Kane County Government Center (KCGC) on Rte. 31 in Geneva. Note that if you are coming from the north, you will need to go down 3rd Street due to the railroad bridge being worked on.
The route is based on the August 13th Sunday ride up to Huntley which has some great scenic roads heading north. I added some neighborhood streets after Wasco to minimize time on LaFox & Keslinger roads.
The weather looks nice with a high of 75 and winds out of the northeast. There are 3 rest stops. Check out the route so you have enough fuel and liquids for the Metric Century mileage. Depending on the crowd we may split into 2 groups.
Planned group road ride from Harter Middle School to various locations based on weather & wind direction. Distances will increase over the season, potentially toward an Imperial Century in the Fall. Multiple water stops planned.
This is a NO DROP ride though you should be aware of the expected average speed 16+ MPH. Accordion riding expected (riders will separate and regroup (at safe distance) at major turns). Strongly suggest you have a map/cue sheet of the route and/or loaded on your GPS/phone.
Objective is to keep everyone together during the majority of the ride at the advertised pace. A separate Advanced Pace (18+ mph) group may start out with us and speed ahead during the ride, either on the planned course or elsewhere. We will not stay with them.
Rear lights required. Front lights and high-visibility apparel strongly recommended to enhance personal safety.
Safety is our top priority! Please be familiar with our
safety
protocols and cycling
rules
.
\Hope to see you there!
