2021 Swedish Days Workers Ride

Participants take a break during a HOT! 2018 Workers Day Ride.

Everyone is invited to participate in the 2021 Swedish Days Worker's Ride.

This well received event is a FVBSC tradition.

The Workers Ride provides an opportunity for those working the Swedish Days event to experience portions of the route first hand. It also allows us to check some of the roads for any last minute issues.  The ride is usually held a week prior to the actual event. But due to the new September event date and the Labor Day holiday; it will be held on Saturday, August 28th.

Although termed the “Workers Ride,” all club members as well as our extended "Friends of the FVBSC," who have offered to volunteer are welcome. If you have already volunteered to support the actual event on Sunday September 12th, then this ride is your chance to experience the route with almost the same level of rest stop support as the day of the ride.  Of course if you have not yet volunteered, then your participation is our way of some gentle arm twisting to do so. No club member will be turned away. Registration is appreciated since our club has grown since we had this event back in 2019.

This year's Worker's Day Ride will be starting at a the Kaneland Harter Middle School. (This will be the main and only rest stop location on the 2021 Swedish Days Ride).  The school is located at 1601 Esker Drive, Sugar Grove, IL 60554  (corner of Harter & Esker Roads).  We'll have a selection of fresh fruit, breads, trail mix, energy drink mix and water.

2019 Workers Ride participants

Two start times are offered. Your choice depends on the pace and distance that interests you.

  • 7:00 AM; fast-paced Pace will be 16mph plus. We need to get back before 9:00am with some buffer to get the 9:00 groups off on time AND have a snack.) Get there early so that we can roll at 7:00am sharp. Ride with GPS route:

SD-2021-KHMS-Green-SWLoop-22.3mi

  • 9:00 AM Suggest everyone start with this modified RED Loop of 31 miles. We'll have a water rest stop in Plano at the High School. Ride at your own pace. The group will naturally break into groups. Ride with GPS route:

SD-2021-Worker-Red Loop Mod-031mi

We’ll target closing down the Rest Stop at ~1:00pm. That’s 4-6 hours of riding depending on your start time. Plan accordingly. You are welcome to ride longer; there just might not be refreshments when you finish.

We hope to see a big turnout and beautiful weather.

We have an extra large volunteer staff this year! Please use the registration feature for you and any others riding so that we can plan appropriately. THX!

Remember to wear your favorite FVBSC Jersey!
