*Cancelled, no sign ups* The Kane County Crankenstein Road Ride

The Crankenstein is developed as a weekly Saturday training ride for those looking to work in both distance and pace.  The route is unapologetically not going to change for weather/wind conditions, and this is the intention.  The idea is to ‘train’ on the same route to gauge fitness and improvement.  It also gives riders a ride that is predictable and will typically start at the same place, and by riding the same route you won’t need to re-load new routes for each week’s ride.  (Note: starting this ride mid-season means we are starting at 75 miles. Next season this ride will start shorter and build to 75.)

The Route: This 75-mile route will start in Hinckley and head south to Plano, back north passing through Kaneville, further north looping around the Sycamore Speedway, before head back south through Maple Park then finishing back in Hinckley.

Optional planned rest stops at mile 21, 44 and 63 (we may not require all 3, but just in case).

Pace: Advanced 16+ and will typically be faster.  This is a training ride, so come prepared to work.  A/B/C groups shall form depending on turnout.  Riders should be experienced in pace lines and advanced riding techniques.

No Drop: While gaps may form, no one will be dropped, and regrouping points shall occur.  That said, you should be strong enough to maintain the stated average and distance above and/or ok with riding alone from time to time if you’re working toward the stated pace.

Rain will not cancel this ride, however flood and thunderstorm warnings will. That call will be made on game day at the ride start.

Route

* Post ride social option at South Moon BBQ in Hinckley

* While the route typically won’t change, as this ride evolves, the route will too.  Make sure you check back for a new route before each week’s ride.

* A few times a year this ride will travel north to start in Lake County for some hill work.  Make sure you check for updates the week of the ride.

Always looking for volunteers for open positions:
Co-Captain to lead the ride when I can’t
Designated Sweeper.
